"You’re
hired." Congratulations! You’ve said these words to the
candidate you think is the best choice, and you’ve got a new
storage facility staff member. But let’s go back in time a bit:
Did you really make the best choice? Hopefully so, but there are
numerous potholes and pitfalls to dodge on the road to hiring
"The One." The same holds true when you’ve decided an
employer/employee relationship has to end. But everything that
happens in between is equally important. During this fast-paced
event packed with must-know information, seasoned HR pro Pat Bell
and wage and hour attorney Brian Farrington will give you practical
advice for steering around those bumpy potholes.
The webinar will cover:
- Hiring/firing best practices
- Wage and hour law, overtime, bonus structures
- Employment agreements
- HR practices to avoid especially in self storage
…and more
Pat
Bell’s human resources career spans over 25
years and multiple environments. Her passion is
encouraging and enlightening people regarding the hidden
challenges of the HR world. “My own career includes four
layoffs, two startups, one company bankruptcy, and
multiple periods of rapid growth. I’ve been on the
receiving end of both good as well as
less-than-desirable HR practices. Most of all, I’ve
learned that keeping the ‘human’ element in human
resources goes a long way.’”
Brian
T. Farrington, a native of the Dallas-Ft. Worth area,
received his B.A. from the University of Dallas, and his M.A. from
the University of Chicago. He spent 12 years with the United States
Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division, working in Chicago, Ft.
Worth and Dallas, and was the assistant district director in the
Dallas district office. In 1993, he became president of Harry
Weisbrod Associates, and continues to devote his efforts to
wage-hour, EEO and other employment issues. Farrington is also the
author of the book Wage-Hour Compliance.
